Human reproductive systems sim
Turn life-size teaching models of the male and female reproductive systems on a turntable, tap each part to see its name and what it does, and build your own parts list.
Reproduction in humans: the male and female reproductive systems · covers the O-Level, IGCSE topic
What the sim shows
Teaching models, about life size for an adult, on a turntable: turn them to any view and tap a part. The parts are drawn in key colours, not the colours of real tissue; the scrotum and the penis are drawn clear, so the testes and the urethra inside show. Simplified on purpose: only these organs are shown, without the rest of the body; the sperm ducts are drawn shorter than real (about 30 cm, looping over the bladder); the uterus is drawn round, though a real one is flatter front to back; the female model leaves out the bladder and urethra. The bladder on the male model is part of the urinary system, shown so you can see where the urethra starts. Sizes are typical adult values (illustrative); bodies vary.
- Lit pointer: the turntable's index; the model's front tick lines up with it when the model faces you
- Tap a part: it is outlined, and its name and function show below
- Clear parts: the scrotum and the penis, drawn see-through on the model

- Smoking and the airways simSet how many cigarettes a day, watch tar stop the cilia and mucus build up in the airway, and measure how much haemoglobin carbon monoxide takes away from oxygen.
- Villus absorption simZoom from the gut wall into one villus and two of its cells, turn knobs for the microvilli, the wall's thickness and the blood flow, and run a minute at a time to see glucose and amino acids go into the blood and fats into the lacteal.
- Active transport: root hair ion pump simFill a pipette from stock bottles to set the K⁺ concentration around barley roots, turn a tap to bubble air or nitrogen, drop in a simulated respiratory inhibitor and step the timer 10 minutes at a time, recording the uptake rate and graphing it against soil concentration while a close-up shows carrier proteins pumping ions against the gradient.
- ADH and water balance simGive a teaching torso a glass of water, a salty snack or an hour of hard exercise in the heat, wait 15 minutes at a time, and watch the hypothalamus, ADH, the collecting duct and the urine bring the plasma back towards normal, with your own readings plotted on a graph.
- Antibiotic resistance simGive a bacterial infection a course of antibiotic one day at a time, choose a full or low dose and when to stop, try a course for a cold, and compare how fast the resistant fraction rises on the graph and in a close-up of every bacterium.
- Cell explorer: plant, animal, bacterium simTurn a 3D plant, animal or bacterial cell under the microscope, switch between light and electron microscope views, and fill a table of which structures each cell has and which only an electron microscope can show.
