What the sim shows

Mix the sample with Benedict’s reagent and heat in a hot water bath before reading. Reducing sugar gives a coloured precipitate, from green through yellow and orange to brick-red. Water and sucrose controls remain blue. These colour bands and heating times illustrate the procedure; they are not a calibrated concentration scale.

  • Bath tubes: sample and water control. Inspection rack: the same results shown clearly after removal from the bath.
