What the sim shows
A sucrose solution is separated from the surrounding solution by a membrane permeable to water but not sucrose. Water moves towards the more concentrated solution. The capillary makes a small volume change visible. This is an initial-response model with a nearly constant concentration gradient, rather than a prediction of final hydrostatic equilibrium. All rates are illustrative.
