What the sim shows

Mix the same volumes of starch and amylase in a controlled water bath. Test a fresh small sample with iodine at each interval. Blue-black means starch remains; brown-yellow means no starch is detected. Cold slows the enzyme; warming restores its activity. Previously overheated enzyme remains denatured after cooling. The declared rate model is illustrative; the warm reference case reaches the detection limit at 120 s.

  • Left tube: starch + amylase. Right tube: starch without enzyme. Tile: samples from the left tube at 0, 40, 80, 120 s; back row first, then front row.
