What the sim shows

Start with destarched plants, expose matched leaves to the chosen conditions, then test both leaves for starch by the same complete iodine method. The left chamber is the chosen condition; the right is the matched light-and-carbon-dioxide control. The tile shows the final tested leaf regions. This qualitative teaching model predicts the result after 6 hours, rather than a measured starch yield.

  • Green leaf regions contain chlorophyll. A foil-covered region receives no light. Water in a flask is the carbon dioxide control; alkali removes carbon dioxide. The result tile is a separate inspection view after the starch test: three chosen regions across the back and the oval positive control at the front.
